I wrote recently about my Hobbit robe plans and how I’m going to have my pieced fabric quilted by Dastardly Line. I remembered I had made a couple of reels (here and here for those on Instagram), featuring clippies I filmed over two sessions in Deborah’s studio in Glasgow, and thought you might be interested to see the long arm quilting machine in action.
Deborah is building a super interesting studio, taking true textile waste and making it into beautiful, useful pieces. She has a range at the V&A in London, what an absolute legend! I’m very lucky to own one of the samples from her development of this range of bags and I love it.
I’ve worked out how to edit videos to the correct orientation for Substack but have yet to find audio I like to accompany my clippies. So in the meantime, enjoy this silent compilation of footage from Dastardy Line, back when Craft & Thrift was trying to develop a range of upcycled, quilted, remnant fabric project bags.
